iciHaiti - Education : Distribution of thousands of unique books 08/08/2023 11:14:40
It was Minister Nesmy Manigat, who was accompanied by Étienne Louisseul France Departmental Director of Education (DDE) of the West, who presented the principals of these schools with the first batch of these books. Overall, the Ministry will initially distribute 12,000 books in these two school districts: 6,000 books in the district of Delmas and 6,000 books in that of Cité-Soleil. In the department of the West, the operation of distribution of the Unique Book to the pupils of first and second year of the fundamental which was launched, will continue in 14 other school districts such as Tabarre, Cropix-des-Bouquets, La Gonâve, Carrefour and Ganthier. The same operation will be deployed in 9 other DDEs. In his intervention for the occasion, the Minister Nesmy Manigat declared that he is firmly convinced that the free distribution of the "Unique Book in Haitian Creole" represents a great relief for parents where the majority of them encounter great difficulties in preparing their children to enter school. As for the social benefits, Minister Nesmy Manigat emphasized the pedagogical benefits, especially when he considers that this book will facilitate all first and second year students of the foundation in whatever school they are, public schools like private schools across the country to follow the same curriculum. The Minister asked school directors to protect the books so that other promotion students can find them to use them while recalling that there are continuing education programs to help teachers make better use of this book which works with a workbook for students, educational sheets, weekly progress charts that help teachers advance with methods in their work; which should facilitate the improvement of the quality of children's learning. During the month of August and the beginning of September, the ministry will distribute more than one million "Unique Books in Haitian Creole" for the first and second year of the fundamental. Remember that the Single Book for the first and second fundamental years includes 5 compulsory subjects in the programs: Creole, French, mathematics, social sciences and experimental sciences. It is written in Haitian Creole, except for the French subject. For the 2023-2024 school year, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training will continue to develop Single Books, this time for the third and fourth year of fundamentals.
