iciHaiti - Dom. Rep. : The Minister of Industry does not oppose the export of Portland cement to Haiti...
Víctor Bisonó, the Dominican Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, informed the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) of his non-objection to Portland cement producers exporting this construction material to Haiti.

Let's remember that since October 2023, the National Security Council of the Dominican Republic has decided to apply an embargo https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40698-haiti-flash-partial-reopening-of-the-dominican-border-new-measures-and-an-embargo.html on the export of electronics, cement, reinforcing steel and other construction materials to Haiti, in order to prevent the construction of structures threatening environmental assets notably the construction of a canal on the Haitian side with water intake on the Masacre River to irrigate the Maribaro plain.

"We inform you that this Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), in its role responsible for initiatives that promote formal, fair and competitive commercial activity in internal trade, as well as identifying obstacles which may affect the marketing and intermediation chains of products, has no objection to the various cement-producing industries operating in the country exporting Portland cement to the Republic of Haiti ," indicates the Minister.

However, he specifies in his letter that this non-objection "[...] in no way implies a title or license authorizing its export nor does it authorize non-compliance by industries with the requirements that Apordom and other competent bodies may require."
