iciHaiti - Politic : James Monazard new Minister of Commerce and also Tourism

In accordance with the decree of June 11, 2024, the former Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), James Monazard, was installed as Minister of Trade and Industry and also Minister of Tourism.

After more than 10 years of service within the public administration, James Monazard, thanks to his skills and leadership, was able to climb the ranks, particularly within the MCI.

After his studies in Economic Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences in 2007, followed by studies in legal sciences in 2011 within the same entity, he quickly joined public administration in January 2011, as a technician at the Labor Directorate, of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In January 2013, he was appointed Head of Department in the Legal Affairs Directorate of MCI, where he spent four years. During this period, he demonstrated exceptional ability within this direction.

In September 2017, he was promoted to Assistant Director at the Department of Industrial Control and Regulation (DCRI).

Thanks to his professionalism and dynamism Monazard was appointed, in June 2021, by presidential decree, Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Monazard is responsible for overseeing the country's trade and industrial policies, and also for promoting the tourism sector and his mandate includes developing strategies to diversify the Haitian economy and strengthen tourism infrastructure, in order to position Haiti as a destination tourist choice.

Alongside his career in public administration, Monazard has also evolved, since 2012, as a professor in academia, sharing his knowledge and expertise with students from different universities, including the National Diplomatic and Consular Academy, the Notre-Dame University of Haiti, and the Gonaïves Law School.

His career has been marked by a constant and deserved rise, fueled by his unwavering commitment to the progress and well-being of Haitian society.
