iciHaiti - Dominican Republic : 226,117 Haitians repatriated in 9 months
The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) repatriated 226,117 Haitian citizens in an irregular migration situation living in Dominican territory over the past nine months (September 2024 - May 2025), setting a new record for immigration control.

These figures stem from more than 4,000 immigration control operations conducted day and night in various provinces across the country. These operations also led to the dismantling of migrant smuggling networks and the arrest of document forgers and identity thieves.

These measures are part of a broader plan to interdiction and contain the flow of foreigners, as promoted by the Dominican government under the leadership of President Luis Abinader.

Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, a career officer in the Dominican Navy, assumed command of the DGM in September 2024. His extensive experience in the armed forces and state security agencies was invaluable in addressing immigration challenges.

Interdictions were implemented in Greater Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Azua, Santiago Rodríguez, Moca, Duarte, Loma de Cabrera, Dajabón, Valverde, Monte Cristi, Barahona, Peravia, La Altagracia, La Vega, and Santiago de los Caballeros. These operations received support from institutions such as the Ministry of Defense, the Dominican Army, the Public Ministry, the Ciudad Tranquila Task Force, and other government agencies.
