iciHaiti - Security : Conclusion of two weeks of training for SIMPAP firefighters
From November 3rd to 14th, 2025, firefighters from the Port-au-Prince Municipal Fire Department (SIMPAP) and agents from the Port-au-Prince City Hall's Civil Protection Service participated in two weeks of intensive training designed to consolidate and enhance their essential skills in emergency response. Organized in partnership with the Canadian Peace and Security Officers Training Association (CPSOTA), this session represents a significant step in the sustainable strengthening of the municipal services' operational capacities.

During this program, SIMPAP firefighters reinforced their understanding of the scientific principles of fire, deepened their knowledge of their roles and responsibilities, and refined their skills in operating fire engines and water supply methods.

Simultaneously, Civil Protection Service agents participated in specialized modules covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), triage of victims according to the color-coded system, safe patient transport, hemorrhage control, and immobilization techniques. This training prepares the teams to undertake even more advanced training to ensure quality service to the public.

Emergency response simulations allowed participants to put their acquired knowledge into practice, highlighting the importance of inter-agency coordination and the constant need to ensure the safety of responders. This training directly contributes to strengthening the operational capacities of the Port-au-Prince City Hall and improving the preparedness of teams for critical situations, for the benefit of the population.

The official closing ceremony was held at the Karibe Convention Center Hotel, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alfred Fils Métellus, and the Director General of the Ministry of the Interior, Pierre Canisius Guignard. Training certificates were officially presented in the presence of representatives from the Canadian Peace & Security Officers Training Association (CPSOTA), including its President, Harold Turnier, its Vice-President, Martin Lemire, and several other invited guests.

The ceremony concluded with the handover of a fire truck to the Port-au-Prince Municipal Fire Department (SIMPAP), marking a significant step forward in modernizing SIMPAP's response capabilities.
