PNH : Launch of a women's recruitment awareness campaign 30/06/2026 09:16:06
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH) launched an awareness campaign at the Delmas 33 Municipal Palace aimed at encouraging more professional women to join its ranks. The ceremony took place in the presence of several high-ranking PNH officials, including Divisional Commissioner Jeannette Bateau, head of the National Coordination for Women's Affairs (CNAF); Divisional Commissioner Étienne Salvador, head of Community Policing; Chief Commissioner Marjorille Plaisival, representing the National Police Academy; and Police Inspector Smith Bonne Année, representing the PNH's Permanent Recruitment Office. Funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP in collaboration with the PNH, this campaign is part of the efforts to professionalize and modernize the police force through the PNH Support Program. In a context where women represent less than 13% of the institution's workforce and where gender stereotypes continue to associate security professions with men, this initiative aims to promote a more representative police force, better able to meet the needs of the entire population. The campaign pursues three complementary objectives : to raise awareness of the diversity of police careers; to encourage more qualified women to dedicate their skills to public safety; and to promote equal opportunities in access to the police. Ultimately, this initiative should help remove the obstacles that still hinder women's access to police careers and foster more balanced representation within the Haitian National Police (PNH). During this event, Divisional Commissioner Marie Jeanette Bateau Salomon, Coordinator of the National Coordination for Women's Affairs and Gender Issues (CNAFQG), recounted her career within the police force to encourage more women to join the PNH, regardless of their skills or area of expertise. Furthermore, Municipal Inspector Paul Smith Bonne Année, representing the Permanent Recruitment Service, and Chief Commissioner Marjorille Plaisival, representing the National Police Academy, urged the young women to seize this opportunity offered by the Haitian National Police (PNH) to contribute to strengthening the institution. The event concluded with a series of discussions during which PNH representatives answered questions from the young women present about career opportunities within the institution and shared their professional journeys.
