iciHaiti - Contraband : More than a million cigarettes from Haiti seized in DR

Saturday members of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT), the Directorate of Intelligence Services (J-2) and the Dominican Navy (M-2) intercepted a boat from Haiti to 20 nautical miles from the municipality of Pepillo Salcedo, (Province of Montecristi).
The 25-foot-long boat carried 50 boxes each containing 50 cartons of 10 packs of 20 "Jaisalmer" brand cigarettes manufactured by Godfrey Phillips in India and 53 boxes containing each 50 packs of 10 packs of 20 "Capital" brand cigarettes manufactured by "Oriental General Trading Inc." in Dubai for a total of 1,060,000 cigarettes.
4 people on board the boat were arrested 1 Dominican Juan Bautista Ortiz and 3 Haitians Jhoan Bosni, Ismail Batista and Jony Joseph.
The detainees and the seized goods were sent to the public prosecutor of the province of Montecristi for legal action.
