The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announces that it carried out migration control operations from 10 to 13 February, during which 1,010 Haitians were controlled in 9 provinces and the national district.

The operations were carried out by teams made up of inspectors, DGM agents with the support of the military, the Dominican National Police, the tourist police, the Environment and Natural Resources officer in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned : Azua (11); Duarte (79); La Vega (7); Montecristi (64); Santiago de los Caballeros, Villa Verde, El Guano, Hoya de Caimito, Navarrete and Jaragua sectors (222); Santo Domingo West (126); Sánchez Ramírez (50); Puerto Plata, Aguas Negras and San Marcos sectors (34); Valverde, Mao, Esperanza and Boca sectors (61) and in the national district (356).

After verification using biometric readers and the central database of the DGM, 866 Haitians (85.7%) were declared in an irregular or paperless migration situation and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón, Elías Piña and Jimaní, to be registered and deported to Haiti.
