iciHaiti - Economy : 800 million Gdes to settle the debts of OFATMA
The Workplace Accident, Sickness and Maternity Insurance Office (OFATMA) informs those concerned that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Ministry of the Economy and Finance in order to guarantee the rapid settlement of payment arrears for the period from December 9, 2024 to September 30, 2025.

Since taking office in February 2025 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44274-haiti-news-zapping.html , General Director Vikerson Garnier, has demonstrated his commitment to his partners by paying more than 571 million gourdes of debt inherited from the 2018–2024 period. This act demonstrates the institution's desire to maintain healthy and responsible relationships with all stakeholders in the health system.

However, the application of the tariff scale adopted on December 9, 2024 has generated major difficulties for the institution Download the scale (PDF) : https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/bareme-ofatma-12-2024.pdf Indeed, Designed and adopted outside the requirements of the law and without an in-depth actuarial study, this scale has proven to be both "legally unworkable and financially unsustainable". It does not make it possible to properly process medical claims files transmitted by healthcare providers to OFATMA between December 2024 and September 2025.

The new administration recognized this problem and took immediate steps to remedy this situation.

To this end, on December 8, 2025, a formal agreement was concluded with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, guaranteeing the release of 800 million gourdes, funds necessary to settle arrears.

Vikerson Garnier reaffirms to all its policyholders that concrete and operational measures have already been implemented in order to guarantee the progressive, orderly and sustainable settlement of claims for healthcare services. The institution remains fully committed to ensuring the continuity of services, preserving the stability of the health system and honoring its commitments to all of its partners throughout the national territory.
