iciHaiti - Economy : All about the new 1,000 Gourdes note
The Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) has unveiled the characteristics and security elements of the new 1000 Gourdes banknote put into circulation on the national market.

Features:
On the front of the note is the portrait of President Florvil Hypolite (1889-1896). Issued in 1999 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the city of Port-au-Prince (1749), the banknote features on the front the effigy of Florvil Hypolite, nicknamed the Iron President because of his many steel constructions.

On the back is Vallière Market, a mythical shopping center located in the heart of Port-au-Prince on Jean Jacques Dessalines Boulevard.

Security elements:
On the front:

Brilliant 10-point color-changing star-shaped dot located in the lower half, slightly off-center to the right and labeled : "BRH 1000"

Slightly offset to the right, on the front of the banknote is a windowed silver security thread bearing the words "1000 gourdes", which must not be able to be detached from the banknote.

Embossed printing.

On the back :
Effigy of Florvil Hyppolite, the letters "REPUBLIC OF HAITI", the numbers and letters of "1000" gourdes and the 3 points of the code for the blind, which produces a rough feeling to the touch.

The BRH asks the Haitian population to be vigilant so as not to take any counterfeit notes that may be in circulation.
